Hurricane Lenny on its way to St.Barths during November of 1999. This storm was unusual in that it traveled from west to east.

For more than a generation, the hurricanes generated annually in the Southern Atlantic were not interested in St.Barths. They went somewhere else.
This resulted in a certain degree of complacency on the part of local folk, but all that changed with the arrival of Hurricane Luis in 1995.
