BARBARA is no ordinary St Barts charter yacht. Designed for an owner who wanted to cruise remotely, this Oceanco megayacht acts as a retreat with every luxury included, and carries a phenomenal fleet of water toys. BARBARA accommodates 12 guests in 6 deck-level staterooms including private Owner’s deck, and runs with a generous 27 crew for 12 guests.
Convention-bending exterior design
Even from a distance, M/Y BARBARA breaks the superyacht mold. Huge expanses of gleaming black glass curve around the yacht’s superstructure, vast elliptical windows lead gracefully along the dark blue hull, and massive drop-down balconies sit out above the water.
BARBARA offers sumptuous outdoor spaces that spill over 5 decks, from the observation deck right down to the sea-level terrace, where the hydraulic bathing platform slopes gently into the crystalline sea. The sundeck is a temple to wellness, with a glass-bottom pool and a fully enclosed gym with 360° views. The touch-n-go helipad on this level also converts to an open-air cinema for movies under the stars. The sundeck is the place for glittering parties or sunset cocktails, with glamorous alfresco dining on the bridge and aft decks.
Asian resort-style interior
Stepping inside the Sam Giovanni interior, there’s a sense of entering an Asian-inspired retreat. Running through the center of the yacht is a jaw-dropping glass elevator wrapped in a silver tree root sculpture. The elevator rises up from the Lower deck, with its plush cinema, beauty salon and day spa, up to the Main deck, where the main salon and dining areas are separated by a large tropical aquarium, and the furniture moves aside to create a dance floor under party lights.
Five of BARBARA’s six double staterooms are located on the Main deck, including a full-beam VIP which can convert into two cabins. Up on the Wheelhouse deck, you enter the spectacular superyacht office – a double-height atrium with drop-down balconies and soaring 3.5m ceilings, all lit by dancing, watery light from the glass-bottom pool above. This is part of the magnificent split-level master suite, with stairs leading up from the study to the Owner’s private deck. The raised master bedroom feels truly masterful, with sweep of panoramic windows, a central skylight, and another drop-down balcony that floods the room with light and air.
Tenders & toys
BARBARA is stocked with a fabulous array of water toys, and the deck crew are RYA-qualified water sport instructors. The cavernous tender garage houses a limousine tender and three high-speed tenders, as well as Waverunners, Jetsurfs, and Seabobs. There’s a range of inflatables, including waterslide, aquapark, trampoline, and floating platform, and every ‘board’ imaginable, from wakeboards and wakesurfers to windsurfers and kiteboards. Add in paddleboards, kayaks, a pedalboat and a thrilling e-foil, and you may struggle to try it all on your St Barts charter.
