Formalities to St. Barts

Administrative formalities

All citizens of the European Union must have a valid passport .

All foreigners who are required to have the Schengen visa for Europe, must also get the visa extension for French Overseas Departments and Overseas Territories. It will be requested upon arrival along with other necessary documents (return ticket, proof of lodging, etc)

All American and Canadian citizens arriving in Saint Barth must have a valid passport, as well a round-trip ticket or proof of continuation of travel. A visa is not necessary if the intended stay on the island is inferior to, or equal to, 30 days.
However, the passport must be valid and not expire for at least three months from the date of entry to the territory of St Barthélemy.

Animals immigration

Vaccinating dogs and cats against rabies, and that between 21 days and one year before the date of travel (knowing that those less than three months may not travel).

Subjecting dogs and cats a pest control treatment. To identify dogs, cats and ferrets (designated as "domestic carnivores") by a veterinarian.

From 2011, the only tattoo identification will no longer suffice: a microchip must necessarily have been implanted in animals. Expect to obtain a health certificate within 5 days prior to your departure. And do not forget their health journal!

By plane Pets are allowed on board planes, but it is necessary to check with the company on its specific conditions. Introduce yourself at least half an hour before recording. In general, animals weighing less than 5kg may travel in the cabin - without exceeding the threshold of two animals on the same flight - in a box or bag.

Beyond that weight, the animals travel in the hold - ventilated, heated and pressurized - in cages registered (purchased in a pet shop or airport) and specifying the meaning of storage (up, down). Question Rate it takes - on a long-haul - by kilo: about 1.5% of adult fare for one way economy class.

Disabled people as moving with their guide dogs are entitled to free service and the presence of the animal at their side. A note on the birds 'travelers' and to avoid unwanted chirping and singing: a black cloth should cover the cage during the flight.
