Born in Saint Barth on February 16, 1896, Eugénie Blanchard became the doyenne of humanity on Tuesday, May 4. Since May 25, 2008, she has been the oldest person in France, and at the age of 114, she is also now the oldest person in the world, following the death of Kama Chinen of Japan, who passed away one week shy of her 115th birthday.

Organized by the association Saint B’Art, the fifth edition of the St Barth Book Festival took place April 12 to 20, 2010. Four authors were the invited guests this year, including Alex Godard, writer and illustrator from Marie Galante, known primarily for his wonderful work for children, “Maman Dlo,” and Bruno Gazzotti, creator of comic strips, known for his series, “SODA.” Both authors visited the island’s schools during the week.
